Carey is finalizing a deal to fill Lopez’s vacant American Idol judge seat, and she’s set to rack in big bucks to do it – commanding a salary of more than $17M a season. And Fox Television has no problem meeting Mariah’s requests. Know why? Because the last panel of judges failed to land American Idol an Emmy nomination for the first time since debuting a decade ago.
